My brand new hero.
I wrote a short while ago about the shortcomings of SQL*Plus and the necessity to use something like TOAD to make developing against an Oracle database a pleasure rather than a chore.
The very existence of tools like TOAD mean that I’m not alone in this opinion and it seems that Oracle has been listening too. Enter Oracle SQL Developer.
We have a lot (and I mean a lot) of PL/SQL stored procedures in the Data Warehouse. Some are to process in data from various business systems and customer relationship management data sources. Others are to transform and aggregate based on business rules and operational structures.
Thankfully, these have been well written and well maintained over the years and I need only to tweak and tinker as business processes change. Thankfully, doing this is now much easier with SQL Developer.
